    Cake Mix Cherry Cobbler
    Cake Mix Cherry Cobbler, Mmmm this stuff is tasty! Sometimes you just need something sweet! Am I right?
    Usually, I reach for something of the chocolate variety, but once in a while, I want cherries.  Not the healthy cherries, I want the cherry pie filling goo-covered cherries.
    This recipe is quick, fast, cheap and uses items that you probably already have available in your pantry and refrigerator. Ingredients such as canned cherry pie filling, cake mix, oats, almond extract and butter.that's it.

And yes, this is not a recipe "from scratch" but once in a while, that's just fine.
    Cake Mix Cherry Cobbler couldn't be easier to make and satisfies a sweet tooth in no time at all. I love knowing that I have an easy dessert in my repertoire that I can make quickly and not break a sweat. It really is so simple!
    You may also have heard this type of dessert referred to as a "dump cake". Either way you describe it, just know that it is easy and delish. My preferred title includes cobbler, that's just me.

    Cobbler is a dish consisting of a fruit or savory filling poured into a large baking dish and covered with a batter, biscuit, or dumpling before being baked. In my version the batter comes from a cake mix, butter and coats combo.
    What makes a cobbler different from a pie?
    In one word, crust. Pies have either one or two crusts, cobblers do not. Cobblers have a "messier" look to them. Not a clean and crisp edge. You may get a bubbly edge from all that delicious fruit.

    What you need to make Cake Mix Cherry Cobbler:

    • Cherry pie filling
    • Almond extract
    • Yellow cake mix
    • Butter
    • Oats


    This recipe for Cake Mix Cherry Cobbler has been on Who Needs A Cape? since nearly the beginning of our site. I decided to freshen it up and give it some new pictures. The older picture just didn't do it justice, even simple desserts need a pretty picture.
    Now if you've been following our site for a while you may have noticed that I really enjoy desserts with cherry pie filling. Not gonna lie, I always have. Be sure to scroll down as I'm linking a few other cherry treats to enjoy.
    Let's talk toppings! I made some homemade whipped cream, it was the perfect topping. You can also use canned whipped cream or vanilla ice cream. Although, no topping is really needed but it does take this sweet treat to the next level of deliciousness.

    Tips for making Cake Mix Cherry Cobbler:

    • Use vanilla extract if you do not have almond extract.
    • Like less cobbler topping? Half the butter, oats and cake mix.
    • I used a round baking dish approximately the same size as a 9x9 baking dish.
    • Serve with whipped cream or ice cream after cooling.

    Cake Mix Cherry Cobbler
    Cake Mix Cherry Cobbler the easiest and tastiest dessert that you can make with ingredients from your pantry. You'll be amazed at how simple this recipe is. Prep Time 10 minutes Cook Time 25 minutes Total Time 35 minutes
    Ingredients

    • 1 21 oz. can cherry pie filling
    • 1/8 teaspoon almond extract
    • 1 box yellow cake mix
    • 1 stick (1/2 cup) butter, melted
    • 1/3 cup oats


    Instructions

    • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
    • Open can of cherry pie filling, stir in almond extract.
    • Spread can of filling over the bottom of a 9x9 baking dish.
    • In bowl combine together: cake mix, melted butter & oats. Use a fork to combine until chunky.
    • Spread over top of filling.
    • Bake 25-30 minutes.
    • Cool before serving.
    • Optional: whipped cream or ice cream on top
