Here we are at the tail end of summer break, the dog days of summer. Restlessness is settling in with my kids, probably yours too. All the fun plans for this summer have come and gone, and we're left with that lag time before school starts back up. Our family recently returned from a long awaited vacation to Florida. Time spent visiting grandma, dipping our toes into the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean, gathering seashells and visiting the Florida Aquarium. All very memorable events to my girls ages 2 and 6.

254w" sizes="(max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px" />But now we're home, and we're dealing with a couple of very rainy days. For the most part mom has used up her supply of rainy day activities. Luckily on a shopping trip to my local Target, I had some inspiration and was able to find some great items for an easy rainy day project that will help them remember their trip. My arsenal consisted of inexpensive foam-cover notebooks, assorted stickers, glitter (loads & loads of glitter), pictures from our trip, and a few seashells. Not to mention I purchased the ever wonderful Elmer's glue and some Wet Ones. Glue, glitter and 2 little girls.I'm sure you can see where this project is headed, a whole lot of mess! I wanted this to be an easy project, first step was to glue the pictures onto the pages of the book. Racquel who is 6 years old wrote a couple words on each page, and placed stickers on for decoration. We discussed the trip and the special moments we had while completing the memory book pages.

I simply helped Racquel write "FLORIDA" on the front of her book with the Elmer's glue and she shook glitter all over while the glue was wet. She then added a couple decorative seashells from our trip. Leightyn has a smile on her cover with seashell eyes. And with loads of glitter covering both girls (and mom), we set to work with our Wet Ones, talk about easy cleanup, these were the perfect craft-time companion.
